Gartner, one of the world’s leading technology research and advisory firms, has found that over 80% of organizations see no measurable return on their investments in artificial intelligence.
In practice, it is like fitting the engine of a supersonic jet onto a cart with square wheels: the engine fires at full power, burns fuel, and the cart stays stuck in place.
Talking with American entrepreneurs and business owners, startups included, I keep seeing the same scene: teams generate ten times more code, presentations and documents in seconds, and then spend entire afternoons in meetings deciding what to keep and what to throw away.
Producing used to require budget and impose discipline. Today, generating drafts costs almost nothing, while the price of human coordination has exploded.
The bottleneck has moved entirely downstream, to the ability to decide.
A company only ever grows at the speed of its constraint. Increasing output upstream, while leaving the capacity for judgment downstream unchanged, produces a single result: it multiplies the noise and paralyzes operations.
And in your company, is AI raising operating margins at the end of the month? Or are you paying for subscriptions to discuss documents that nobody will ever read?
What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
