Welcome November. November marks the passage from autumn toward winter. The days grow shorter, the air turns colder and the trees change colour: yellow, copper, brown. Fallen leaves transform avenues and gardens, setting the scene for a month that invites us to rethink our routines.
The first cold weather also changes the wardrobe. Coats and heavier jackets return, chosen for their line, length and fabric: wool, melton cloth, more technical padding. Warm knitwear, scarves and gloves complete the layers. Closed shoes and boots come back; bags grow roomier, while accessories help bring the look in line with winter temperatures. The palette follows the season, moving between dark shades and warm colours.
Our attention is already turning to the collections that will be presented in January and preview the next season. The shows and the brands’ proposals will indicate the colours, materials and proportions of the new menswear wardrobe. The calendar begins in Florence with Pitti Immagine Uomo, continues in Milan and reaches Paris—stops to watch for a sense of how fashion will interpret the coming winter.
November also brings flavours associated with this time of year: new olive oil, intense and slightly peppery, and young wines just arriving on the table. A slice of bread is enough to appreciate the fragrance of the first pressings.
There is still the pleasure of walking among the leaves, sitting down to a fuller table and coming back indoors as evening falls early. It is the month when autumn gives way to winter—a change we can see in nature and feel in everyday habits.
