The Consortium for the protection of Prosecco Doc has declared that more than 638.5 million bottles of Prosecco Doc were sold in 2022, for an estimated sales value of over 3 billion euros. This represents an increase of 1.8% in volume and 11.5% in value over the prior year. Exports reached 81.2%, while 18.8% of total sales were for domestic consumption.
In the United States there was an increase in volume of 5.8%, with 134 million bottles sold, surpassing for the first time the United Kingdom, which stopped at 130 million bottles (+3.5%). In terms of value, the United States had already been at the top for several years. Germany remains in third place, with a consumption of 46 million bottles (+2.8%), while France is in fourth place as regards exports, with an increase of 19% in volume and 30% in value.
The 2022 harvest looks promising and able to adequately satisfy the demand for quantity and quality throughout 2023. The “#road to 2030” project will define the objectives of the denomination and will be presented to producers and other stakeholders in the coming weeks.
