A limited series premiered on Netflix on Friday highlighting the life of legendary designer Roy Halston , known simply as Halston.
The five-episode mini series called “Halston” is based on the life and times of the iconic American designer in 1970s New York and stars Ewan McGregor as a designer.

the man behind ‘Pose’, ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace’ and ‘American Horror Story’, with director Daniel Minahan behind the lens, portrays the famous designer’s rapid rise and fall since his reinvention, fateful business, but also nights of excess at Studio 54 and days fueled by cocaine.
The biopic is not without controversy with the late designer’s family claiming that Murphy’s surrender is a bit more than a fiction.
“The archives and the Halston family have not been consulted on the upcoming Netflix series involving an inaccurate and fictionalized account of the famous designer, ‘Halston’,” reads an official press release.
“The Halston Archives remain the only definitive and complete source on man and his legacy as the personally appointed custodian of his private documents and effects.”
Coinciding with the statement, The Halston Archives announced the establishment of new fashion scholarships in Halston’s name as a way to inspire and empower the next generation of American designers, along with a new line of products based on works of art. original art that will fund the scholarship program.
