It seems that Alberta Ferretti really enjoyed her summer, because her collection for next spring marked a welcome return in shape for the popular designer.
And a significant reduction in the target age for the brand, with many easy-to-wear but sophisticated garments for special moments.
Set up in the well-restored double-column cloisters of San Simpliciano in Brera, the show attracted an extraordinarily gracious front row, with dozens of influencers. Outside the cloisters, thousands of fans competed with street photographers for shots of Ferretti’s followers, with the most intense paparazzi frenzy caused by German Internet star Caro Daur.
Alberta’s key idea was to sculpt airy fabrics around her body, most notably gathered chiffon in muted turquoise and purples seen in adorable halter neck long dresses held together by semiprecious stones.
Alberta also played on a hippie chic theme with multiple crochet looks: fringed, knotted and always in motion. Used in short dresses or longer sheath dresses and paired with centurion or lace-up platform sandals.
All in all, a brilliant display of Italian craftsmanship and a great choice of materials as society carefully emerges from the pandemic and women seek out light and easy clothing; sexy and flattering.
And an ideal collection for it-gal influencers who have found a new home at Alberta Ferretti, who had her cast led by new mom Gigi Hadid, and who posed en masse in the cloister garden for a graceful finale.
The clothes for next spring, in the words of the designer, are characterized by the “ability to live the present time and to respond with robust lightness”.
