LONDON FASHION WEEK – JANUARY 2021 – SHOWS CANCELED

No January men’s catwalks for the English capital. The British Fashion Council has indeed confirmed that the next showcase of London Fashion Week will be held from 19 to 23 February 2021. Obviously, the restrictions put in place to stem the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the realization of the Brexit.

The January event, traditionally reserved for menswear and renamed, at the beginning of this year, as a genderless platform, was therefore frozen and included in the round of fashion shows in February. Menswear designers who usually present their collections in January will be encouraged to move to the February program, which will take place as “a first digital event with reduced physical activations”. The appointment hub will be the digital platform of London Fashion Week, which will see the enhancement of the showroom section.

“When in June 2012 we launched the London Collections: Men, which later became London Fashion Week Men’s, we were responding to an industry need and the need to have a platform for British menswear designers – he explained to WWD. Dylan Jones, BFC menswear manager -. Many things have changed since then and this year’s pandemic made us overhaul the system. We are confident that this move will help designers reach more people via the London Fashion Week digital platform, while allowing them to do business as early as January, without a show deadline. “

In the second half of the year, the British Fashion Council plans to return to host two separate events: from 11 to 14 June and from 17 to 21 September, with each showcase open “to all genres and seasons”.
