The Federico Heart Association (Federiconelcuore) expresses bewilderment about the initiative, sponsored by the Tuscany Region and accredited by CROAS Tuscany, to hold a study day entitled “Children who refuse to meet a parent,” which will take place May 5, 2016 at the Auditorium of the Region of Tuscany in Florence.

In fact, empirical research shows that the refusal of a child is most often caused by the injurious behavior of the rejected parent, guilty of domestic violence, child abuse or neglect, and the valuation procedures offered by the theory of parental alienation, refusing to consider alternative explanations to the behavior of the parties involved, it puts at risk the safety and health of women and children. In 2012 the Minister of Health has stated that this theory has no scientific basis and that same year the Minister of Health of Tuscany Region declared that “The position of the subject region is in line with what the scientific community” feeling “what unless inappropriate for a professional … refers to a disease not recognized scientifically and not classified as a disease.
