It has been fifty years since Champagne last saw such an early, vigorous harvest. In 2025 the region has lived something rare: no frost, no disease, and vines ripening faster than anyone expected. A balance in nature that makes this a year to remember.
The harvest started on August 25. That is unusually early. Weather stayed steady — sun most days, a few rains at the right time. Grapes came in healthy, compact, with sugar rising and acidity still firm.
The Comité Champagne notes only 0.8% of vineyards were hit by hail. Damage so low it barely counts. To protect quality, the yield limit was fixed at 9,000 kilos per hectare. Less fruit, better wine.
Producers are already calling it a historic year. They expect wines with freshness and structure, wines able to last. The market brings its usual challenges, but in 2025 the vines gave something special: a harvest full of promise and perfume.
