MM6 MAISON MARGIELA AT PITTI UOMO 107: A TRIBUTE TO MILES DAVIS BETWEEN FASHION AND EXPERIMENTATION

MM6 MAISON MARGIELA

MM6 Maison Margiela’s menswear collection made its show with a fashion show-event at Pitti Uomo 107, consolidating the brand’s menswear line under the patronage of Renzo Rosso, founder of the Otb group. “For us, this is a crazy opportunity. We can consecrate this menswear line,” Rosso said, commenting on the importance of Margiela’s participation in the prestigious Florentine event.

The show took place in the splendid setting of the Tepidarium del Roster, the beautiful and imposing glass and steel greenhouse, a 19th-century architectural masterpiece, located in the heart of the Giardino dell’Orticoltura in Florence. This place, which is very close to our studios, was transformed for the occasion into a performance space where the models paraded along a perimeter platform, alternating determined walks with static poses, creating a dialogue between movement and theatricality.

Renzo Rosso has reassured about the future of the house after the departure of John Galliano, announced in December 2024. “We have a beautiful team, we will announce news at the right time. I am proud of my houses, we have fabulous internal teams,” said the owner, referring to the creative group of about 20 designers who lead the brand. The collection, launched in 2022, remains faithful to the philosophy of Martin Margiela, but reinterprets it with stylistic innovations respectful of his roots. Miles Davis, jazz icon and symbol of elegance, is the thematic heart of the collection, which pays homage to his style without indulging in nostalgia.

The designers of MM6 explored the materials and textures typical of the clothes worn by Davis and the jazz musicians of his era, declining them in a contemporary key. Among the materials used, eco-friendly mink, lurex, coated fabrics and bright prints stand out. Among the 30 looks presented, the reversible bomber jacket in faux mink represents a highlight of the collection, reinterpreting a typically feminine fur with masculine cuts. The classic English raincoat is updated in a contemporary version, while the rubberized and plasticized blazer pays homage to the typical style of the guests of Pitti Uomo.

The touch of glamour comes with the three-piece suit enriched by a new micro-star print, designed to give brightness and boldness to the wearer, ideal for a red carpet. To complete the line, the weekender bag, inspired by the cases of jazz musicians’ musical instruments, which represents the link between fashion and music.

The collection stands out for its innovative use of experimental textures, such as plasticized knits, rubberized fabrics and denim with faded effects. Accessories complete the offering with brushed square- or round-toe loafers and high-top shoes with Velcro straps. Particular emphasis is given to the multifunctional gloves, created in collaboration with Agnelle Helmets, equipped with practical storage pockets.

With this collection, MM6 Maison Margiela consolidates its presence in men’s fashion, celebrating innovation and sartorial tradition in a unique balance. A debut that not only consecrates the brand’s men’s line, but redefines the concept of performance and style, confirming Pitti Uomo as a platform of excellence for Made in Italy and beyond.
