PRADA SS 25: FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION WITHOUT BORDERS, SUPERHEROES AND HYPERCOMMUNICATION, BUT IS IT REALLY A RESPONSE TO THE MARKET?

At Milan Fashion Week, Prada’s Spring Summer 2025 show surprised the audience with a bold celebration of fashion that challenges the boundaries of the conventional. Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons brought a fusion of styles and historical periods to the runway, reinterpreting the brand’s historical codes with a futuristic and iconoclastic vision.

The creative duo has staged a visual narrative that explores the concept of hyperinformation, an era dominated by algorithms and virtual reality. However, the true essence of their work lies in the celebration of the individual and his capacity for self-determination. The garments worn by the models include mask-hats, looks that recall futuristic aesthetics and superhero suits, symbols of a freedom of expression without borders.

Miuccia Prada reflects on the information saturation of our time, highlighting how algorithms define our perception of reality. “We didn’t want to criticize it, but rather engage with it, starting a dialogue on our cultural context. Choice and unpredictability are essential to human creativity and to Prada as an expression of each individual,” she says.

Raf Simons adds, “We have conceived each person as a superhero, with their own story and powers, exploring how individual choices can transform the perception of the self. The unexpected is only possible thanks to inventiveness and the ability to choose, elements that are uniquely human and that Prada celebrates through fashion.”

This show is an adventure through Prada’s DNA, a blend of past and future that defines new possibilities in fashion, celebrating a multifaceted and innovative vision of the present.
