The Marni Spring Summer 2025 show, presented at Milan Fashion Week, brought to the catwalk a search for the sublime, where beauty is discovered through surreal symbolism. In a poetic game, one goes “hunting rabbits” to find beauty, understood as gesture and meaning.
On the brand’s Instagram page, moments before the show, a cryptic chat appeared: “The light here is iridescent, it seems like you can hear a piano in the background… If you follow it, you will find me where it all began.” A narrative that evokes an existential search, culminating in the sudden discovery of the beauty that surrounds.
During the show, images of balloons, cacti and dogs with stuffed animals evoked the childish and imaginative universe of creative director Francesco Risso. Risso’s approach, similar to that of a child playing with his obsessions, transformed the physical space into a dreamlike dimension, balanced between the real and the abstract.
The show came to life accompanied by the soundtrack of Dev Hynes, inspired by the compositions of Julius Eastman, creating a crescendo that starts from a minimal aesthetic to explode in a stylistic triumph. The models, ethereal creatures, moved in groups, recalling figures of a modern fairy tale, with famous faces such as Eva Herzigova, Irina Shayk and Paloma Elsesser.
Between bicorn hats, emphasized black eyebrows, colored roses and three-dimensional prints, every detail elevated beauty to a pure and fragmented form. The garments, as natural extensions of the bodies, followed the shapes without forcing them, in a balance between simplified volumes and a structured design.
“Beauty? Boooo!” read before the show, almost as if to suggest that beauty is a game of surprise. In the show notes, Risso wrote: «Beauty is like a white rabbit running in your garden. You chase it without catching it, but in the race you find yourself in a wonderful place». Marni’s collection thus reflects a fleeting romanticism, an incessant desire to explore the elusive.
